How to Reset When You're Feeling Overwhelmed: 3 Ways to Clear Your Mind.

Hello my Darlings,

I hope you all had a fantastic week.

Let's be honest: trying to grow, work, stay healthy, build, and become your best self while keeping up with your day-to-day life gets overwhelming fast. Oftentimes it feels like as soon as you get one area in your life together, three others fall apart.

When life gets noisy, do not try to fix everything all at once. Analyze what type of thinker you are and apply some of these tactics while completing each task in sections.

1. For the Analytical and Physical Thinker: The "Open Loops" Brain Dump

If you need structure, logic, and physical proof to feel organized, this method is for you. I recently came across a podcast episode on Unhackable by Kary Oberbrunner, where they talked about the concept of "open loops"

The idea is that unfinished tasks running in the background drain your mental energy just like open apps drain a phone battery. To close those loops, grab a notebook, write down everything lingering in your mind, and sort each item into three buckets:

  • Must Do: Non-negotiables you can knock out today for instant relief.

  • Delegate: Tasks you can ask for help with or hand off to someone else.

  • Delete (Throw Away): Unnecessary pressure or lingering guilt you cross off permanently.

2. For the Emotional and Intuitive Thinker: The Energy Audit

If you feel overwhelmed in your body before you even realize why, you don't need a list—you need a sensory check-in.

Sit in a quiet room, close your eyes, and take three deep breaths. Instead of focusing on your tasks, check in on your emotions:

  • Ask yourself: "What or who drained my energy today?"

  • Identify where you are holding tension (your shoulders, jaw, or chest).

  • Give yourself permission to step away from social media, put your phone on "Do Not Disturb," and rest without feeling guilty.

3. For the Creative & Visual Thinker: The Physical Reset

If you get stuck in your head easily, trying to analyze your feelings can make you feel more trapped. You need a change of scenery to break the loop.

Shift your physical environment to reset your focus:

  • Clear off one small physical surface, like your nightstand or workspace. A clear visual space instantly calms a cluttered mind.

  • Go for a 10 minute walk without headphones, change your lighting, or sketch out your ideas on a whiteboard using colors instead of strict lists.

Remember, Darlings: taking a step back to reset isn't falling behind. It's how you protect your energy so you can keep showing up as your best self. Let’s talk in the comments: Which type of thinker are you: Analytical, Intuitive, or Visual? And what’s one small thing you’re doing today to reset? Drop it below!
